About Taxim-O 200 Tablet

Taxim-O 200 Tablet contains Cefixime 200 mg. Cefixime is an antibiotic from the cephalosporin group. It is used to treat certain bacterial infections, such as infections of the urinary tract, ear, throat and chest. It works only against bacteria and does not help viral infections like the common cold or flu. It is important to take the full course.

Uses of Taxim-O 200 Tablet

  • Urinary tract infections
  • Throat and tonsil infections
  • Middle ear infections
  • Chest infections such as bronchitis
  • Typhoid (enteric) fever, when a doctor decides it is suitable
  • Uncomplicated gonorrhoea

Benefits

In bacterial infections

It kills the bacteria causing the infection, which helps your symptoms settle. Finishing the full course helps make sure the infection is fully treated and lowers the chance of the bacteria becoming resistant.

Side effects

Mild stomach upset is common and usually settles. Talk to your doctor if it is severe or does not go away.

Common

  • Diarrhoea
  • Stomach pain
  • Nausea
  • Indigestion
  • Headache

Get medical help if you notice

  • Severe or watery diarrhoea, or diarrhoea with blood, during or after treatment — contact your doctor straight away
  • Allergic reaction: rash, itching, swelling of the face or lips, difficulty breathing — stop taking it and seek emergency care
  • Severe skin rash with blistering or peeling — seek emergency care

How to use

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed, at evenly spaced times. Swallow the tablet with water, with or without food. Complete the full course even if you feel better.

How it works

It stops bacteria from building their cell walls. Without a proper wall the bacteria break down and die.
