About Seroflo 250 Inhaler

Seroflo 250 Inhaler contains Salmeterol 25 mcg/dose + Fluticasone Propionate 250 mcg/dose. This is a combination inhaler used every day to control asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Fluticasone is a steroid that reduces swelling in the airways, and salmeterol is a long-acting bronchodilator that keeps the airways open for about 12 hours. It is a 'preventer' and does not relieve a sudden attack — keep your quick-relief inhaler with you.

Uses of Seroflo 250 Inhaler

  • Regular treatment of asthma
  • Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)

Benefits

In asthma

Used every day, it reduces airway swelling and keeps the airways open, so you have fewer symptoms and attacks and can be more active.

In COPD

It helps make breathing easier and can reduce flare-ups.

Side effects

Rinsing your mouth after each use helps prevent hoarseness and thrush. Talk to your doctor if side effects bother you.

Common

  • Hoarse voice
  • Sore throat
  • Thrush (white patches) in the mouth or throat
  • Headache
  • Muscle cramps

Get medical help if you notice

  • Sudden wheezing or tightness straight after using the inhaler — use your reliever and seek medical help at once
  • Breathing that gets worse, or needing your reliever more often — contact your doctor promptly
  • Fever, cough with more phlegm, or breathlessness (in COPD) — may be pneumonia; contact your doctor
  • Fast or irregular heartbeat, chest pain — seek medical help
  • Blurred vision or other eyesight changes — contact your doctor

How to use

Use it exactly as your doctor prescribed, usually twice a day. For the inhaler: shake it, breathe out fully, seal your lips around the mouthpiece, press once while breathing in slowly and deeply, then hold your breath for about 10 seconds. A spacer may help. For rotacaps: place one capsule in the device, pierce it, and breathe in quickly and deeply through the mouthpiece. Rinse your mouth with water and spit it out after each use.

How it works

Fluticasone is a corticosteroid that calms inflammation and swelling in the airways. Salmeterol relaxes the muscles around the airways for a long time, keeping them open.

Questions

Frequently asked

Can I use it during an asthma attack?

No. It works slowly to control asthma over time. Use your quick-relief inhaler during an attack.

Why rinse my mouth?

Rinsing removes steroid left in the mouth and throat, which lowers the chance of thrush and a hoarse voice.

Can I stop when I feel better?

No. Feeling better means it is working. Stopping can bring symptoms back. Talk to your doctor first.

Is the steroid in it harmful?

The dose is small and goes straight to the lungs. Your doctor will use the lowest dose that controls your symptoms.
