About Clotrimazole + Beclometasone 1%/0.025% Cream
Clotrimazole + Beclometasone 1%/0.025% Cream contains Clotrimazole 1% + Beclometasone 0.025%. This cream combines an antifungal (clotrimazole) with a mild-to-moderate corticosteroid (beclometasone). It treats fungal skin infections that are also very itchy or inflamed. It should be used only for the time your doctor advises, as the steroid can cause harm with long use.
Uses of Clotrimazole + Beclometasone 1%/0.025% Cream
- Fungal skin infections with inflammation, such as ringworm, jock itch and athlete's foot
- Yeast (candida) infections of the skin with itching and redness
Benefits
In inflamed fungal skin infections
The antifungal clears the infection while the steroid eases itching and redness. Finish the course your doctor advises, even if the skin looks better.
Side effects
Using steroid creams for too long on fungal infections can make the infection harder to treat. Use it only as directed.
Common
- Burning or stinging where applied
- Itching
- Redness
- Skin irritation
Get medical help if you notice
- Skin thinning, stretch marks or the rash spreading with long use — stop and see your doctor
- Severe irritation, blistering or swelling where applied — stop and contact your doctor
- Allergic reaction: widespread rash, swelling of the face or difficulty breathing — seek emergency care
How to use
Wash and dry the affected skin well. Apply a thin layer to the affected area and a little of the skin around it, as often as your doctor advises. Wash your hands afterwards. Do not cover with a tight bandage unless told to. Keep it away from the eyes.
How it works
Clotrimazole damages the outer layer of fungal cells, which stops them growing. Beclometasone is a steroid that reduces inflammation, redness and itching.
